Morita Introduces i-Dixel 3DSim, a New Software Solution for Integrating 3D Dental Images

Japanese dental equipment manufacturer Morita has announced the launch of i-Dixel 3DSim, a new image processing solution that combines data from CT scans, intraoral scanners, and facial scanners to provide an integrated three-dimensional visualization of dental and maxillofacial structures.

The software was officially launched in Japan on September 24, 2026, as an optional feature of Morita's i-Dixel diagnostic imaging platform.

WHAT IS i-Dixel 3DSim?

i-Dixel 3DSim is a three-dimensional visualization and analysis software solution that allows different digital datasets to be superimposed and displayed on a single screen.

The system can integrate:

• Computed tomography (CT) images.

• Data acquired using intraoral scanners (IOS).

• Three-dimensional images captured with facial scanners (FS).

• Digital anatomical models generated through the segmentation of CT and intraoral scan data.

This integration allows dental professionals to visualize teeth, bone structures, and facial tissues together, creating a more comprehensive digital representation of the patient's anatomy.

MAIN FEATURES

Integrated 3D Visualization

The software allows different 3D models to be superimposed and their spatial relationships analyzed, facilitating the combined examination of anatomical structures that are normally evaluated using separate imaging systems.

Anatomical Segmentation

By processing CT and intraoral scan data, the system enables clinicians to work with segmented anatomical models.

These datasets can be used to analyze tooth position and movement, perform crown-to-root ratio measurements, and export selected anatomical structures as independent STL files.

3D Cephalometric Analysis

The software allows reference points to be placed on three-dimensional models, providing tools for orthodontic analysis.

CT Slice Visualization

Another feature allows cross-sectional views of intraoral and facial scan data to be superimposed on CT slices.

This enables the observation of spatial relationships between hard and soft tissues and supports clearer explanations of anatomical conditions to patients.

HOW CAN IT BE USED IN DENTAL PRACTICE?

According to Morita, i-Dixel 3DSim is designed to facilitate the combined interpretation of anatomical information acquired through different imaging technologies.

Its applications include clinical evaluation, analysis of dental and maxillofacial structures, treatment planning, and visual communication with patients.

The ability to integrate different digital models within a single platform also supports continuity throughout the digital workflow, from diagnosis to treatment planning.

COMPATIBILITY AND AVAILABILITY

i-Dixel 3DSim operates as an optional feature of the i-Dixel WEB 3D platform and requires additional services for certain processing and segmentation functions.

The system does not support segmentation of CT data imported from third-party CT scanners.

Morita officially launched the software in Japan on September 24, 2026. Availability dates for other international markets have not yet been confirmed.
