Does Invisalign Hurt?
Invisalign aligners apply controlled forces to move teeth gradually. As a result, patients may experience pressure, tenderness, or mild discomfort, particularly when beginning treatment or switching to a new set of aligners.
This sensation is associated with the biological response of the tissues supporting the teeth to orthodontic forces.
Discomfort varies between individuals and does not necessarily occur with every aligner change. Temporary irritation of the cheeks, lips, or tongue may also occur.
Severe or persistent pain, significant gum injury, or an aligner that does not fit properly should be evaluated by the treating dental professional.
Invisalign is not guaranteed to be painless. However, discomfort alone does not indicate that treatment is progressing correctly or incorrectly.
Regular monitoring remains important throughout orthodontic treatment.
